“travel is a university without walls”. i heard this sentence straight from the woman who's been my inspiration for so many years (besides my mom) : anita roddick. yes, after nearly 5 years working at this company, i finally get the chance to meet the founder, face to face. not only that, it's also a great experience because i get to be one of the person at office who's totally in-charge of her visit to indonesia. meaning : running through her itinerary more than 4 times a day! hehehe...:p
so friends, buddies, mom, and my lovely brothers at home...this is the reason why i didn't answer your calls (whole day meetings!), forget to reply your emails and sms (went home late at nite!)...and don't have the time to hang-out together. I was way too crazy dealing with this huge event...but the funny part is, i never felt tired preparing it.
about this woman. I first heard her name from an article I read when I was still in high school, 1992. tough, strong, quite a radical activist. the most interesting part is the fact that she has a big interest and commitment towards environmental protection. well, I was starting my interest in environmental issues at that time. a good start. studying politics and the world of globalization in university, while having many outdoor activities led me to knowing more about her books, her thoughts, and her unusual business. one thing came across my mind : i think her business is the kind of company i want to work for.
2001 : dreams came true! I started the job.
so, after waiting for so many years to meet her, and after the cancellation of her visit last september, she finally came. what a great experience! she was a million times more passionate than I'd ever thought.
working late at nite, on weekends, and sleeping like 2 hours a day...is worth the spirit and inspiration she brought to us..
